SUMMARY:Glass Fusion - Abstract Trees & Snowflakes
DESCRIPTION:Come and create your own unique tree ornaments with artist Sally McRae this Christmas. In this workshop Sally will teach you how to cut glass\, using a wide range of colours in both transparent and opaque finishes\, you will create your very own abstract tree or snowflake decorations. Whilst everyone works at their own speed you can typically expect to make 2 to 3 pieces. Once completed\, your creations will be taken to Sally’s studio where they will be fired twice in her kiln. They will be ready to collect from Stanwick Lakes within 7 days\, ready to adorn your tree this Christmas. SUMMARY:Batik Silk Painting - Winter Berries
DESCRIPTION:Step into a world of colour and creativity this November in this inspiring Batik Silk Painting workshop led by artist Lisa Deighan. \nIn this hands-on\, beginner-friendly class\, Lisa will guide you through the beautiful and organic process of batik – a centuries-old technique that uses melted wax and vibrant inks on silk to create rich\, flowing designs. Over four hours\, you’ll experiment with mark-making\, layering\, and colour blending\, before crafting your own unique silk artwork inspired by the natural forms of winter berries. \nBy the end of the session\, you’ll leave not only with a framed piece of art to treasure (or gift!) but also with the confidence to continue exploring this versatile medium at home. \nAll materials are included\, along with plenty of encouragement\, expert tips\, and creative inspiration. Whether you’re completely new to silk painting or simply curious to try something different\, this is a relaxed and rewarding way to spend the day. \nPlease bring an apron or wear old clothes as the inks may stain clothing. \nPlease note lunch is not provided\, but you are welcome to bring your own packed lunch or visit our Visitor Centre Café. \n

SUMMARY:2-Day Stained Glass Workshop
DESCRIPTION:2-Day Stained Glass Workshop \nCourse Overview: \nThis two-day course gives you an introduction to the traditional method of stained-glass making. This course in traditional method of stained-glass construction will give you an insight into this ancient craft. You will be fully guided through the process and given lots of tips\, tricks\, insight\, and appreciation of stained-glass window-making. \nThe course will start with an introduction to the art of stained glass\, the design\, and how we ‘paint with light’\, including the equipment and tools used to do this. You will quickly move on to the practical aspect by learning how to score and break glass. This will be followed by practice cutting glass to a design until you’re ready to start cutting the coloured glass for your main project. You can either use one of the designs provided or bring along a design of your own. \nThere will be a full demonstration of the process of constructing a panel at each stage\, and we will discuss the tools and techniques being used. Work will be focused on building and finishing your stained-glass panel by leading\, soldering and cementing your design piece which you’ll finish in time to take home. \nNext available dates: 12th &13th April (limited spaces left) or 7th & 8th June\, 5th & 6th July \nTo take part in this course and our other heritage courses\, visit our Traditional Crafts page. \n
