DESCRIPTION:Step into a world of colour and creativity this November in this inspiring Batik Silk Painting workshop led by artist Lisa Deighan. \nIn this hands-on\, beginner-friendly class\, Lisa will guide you through the beautiful and organic process of batik – a centuries-old technique that uses melted wax and vibrant inks on silk to create rich\, flowing designs. Over four hours\, you’ll experiment with mark-making\, layering\, and colour blending\, before crafting your own unique silk artwork inspired by the natural forms of winter berries. \nBy the end of the session\, you’ll leave not only with a framed piece of art to treasure (or gift!) but also with the confidence to continue exploring this versatile medium at home. \nAll materials are included\, along with plenty of encouragement\, expert tips\, and creative inspiration. Whether you’re completely new to silk painting or simply curious to try something different\, this is a relaxed and rewarding way to spend the day. \nPlease bring an apron or wear old clothes as the inks may stain clothing. \nPlease note lunch is not provided\, but you are welcome to bring your own packed lunch or visit our Visitor Centre Café. \n

DESCRIPTION:Discover the awe and wonder present in the natural world in this2-hour app-based smartphone workshop led by Graham Fudger. \nThe 2-hour workshop covers techniques and approaches to photographing the nature-space and includes an introduction to using the camera app\, Merlin Bird\, iNaturalist’s Seek app\, the compass app and the what.3.words location finder. \nMeeting is at the Visitor Centre at 2:00 pm. Please bring a fully charged-up smartphone and wear clothing / footwear suited to the weather on the day.This workshop is part of the Not Just Us exhibition series exploring themes of light and colour in the nature-space as seen through numerous eyes… \nThis is a FREE event – but places are limited\, pleas REGISTER BELOW. \nChildren are welcome to take part but must be accompanied by an adult and be able to bring\, or share the use of\, a smartphone for the duration of the workshop. \nThe session will begin with a 30–40 minute introduction in the Visitor Centre\, followed by approximately an hour spent outside.

It will offer home education families the chance to take part in three timed sessions\, designed around our values of nature\, heritage and adventure. As well as more informal\, drop-in learning activities. The timed sessions on the day will include Pond Dipping\, our new Dig Detectives session and Den Building! We can’t wait to see you there. \n£12.00 per child. Accompanying adults and children under the age of 2 are free of charge. Parking free of charge if registration is provided at time of booking.

SUMMARY:Glass Fusion - Garden Art Workshop
DESCRIPTION:In this five-hour workshop you will make a unique glass piece to fit into a copper frame for your garden. The overall display including the frame measures approximately 10cm x 34cm. You will learn how to cut glass and will have access to a wide range of transparent glass on a clear or opaque white background to make your very own bespoke piece. There will be a thirty-minute break for lunch\, you are welcome to bring a packed lunch or visit our café. \nAfter the workshop your pieces will be taken to Sally’s studio where they will be fired  in her kiln then fixed to the copper frame.  They will be ready within 14 days of the workshop and can be collected from Lamport Hall or posted out to you for the cost of the postage. \nPlease ensure you are wearing old clothes and enclosed shoes\, i.e. no sandals.

DESCRIPTION:Watercolour Painting Workshop \nDescription: \nEach 2.5 hour session will have a different subject and emphasis. Exploring practical skills from surface preparation to application of paint\, tools and use of mediums. We will be exploring a range of techniques to create washes\, layers\, textures and fine details\, looking at different subjects for inspiration each month. You could dip in and out of these sessions as each is stand alone or book them in a series. Suitable for beginners and improvers. Old clothes are recommended \nAbout The Tutor:  \nLouise Berrill is an artist living and working in a quiet village in rural Northamptonshire. Formerly trained at Loughborough University School of Art and Design\, Louise graduated in 2006 with a BA Hons in Fine Art. In the years after\, she continued to paint alongside working in galleries. Until she had her family\, Louise taught art in a secondary school until 2013. Louise has painted and sold in galleries throughout the country and works on private commissions in the UK and internationally. DESCRIPTION:Build a den at Stanwick Lakes this half term! \nA Ranger will lead your group to our den building area and introduce you to the tools and materials available\, and we’ll discuss the main properties a shelter should have if it were to be needed in a survival situation! You’ll then be set a challenge\, in your groups\, to build your own waterproof den! DESCRIPTION:Join our rangers for a pond dipping session this half term! \nUsing nets\, trays and magnifying glasses and guided by one of our rangers\, come and discover the creatures that live in the ponds at Stanwick Lakes! After a safety briefing and an introduction to the creatures we’re likely to find\, we’ll head to the pond dipping platform where you will be given a pond dipping kit!
