SUMMARY:Batik Silk Painting - Winter Berries
DESCRIPTION:Step into a world of colour and creativity this November in this inspiring Batik Silk Painting workshop led by artist Lisa Deighan. \nIn this hands-on\, beginner-friendly class\, Lisa will guide you through the beautiful and organic process of batik – a centuries-old technique that uses melted wax and vibrant inks on silk to create rich\, flowing designs. Over four hours\, you’ll experiment with mark-making\, layering\, and colour blending\, before crafting your own unique silk artwork inspired by the natural forms of winter berries. \nBy the end of the session\, you’ll leave not only with a framed piece of art to treasure (or gift!) but also with the confidence to continue exploring this versatile medium at home. \nAll materials are included\, along with plenty of encouragement\, expert tips\, and creative inspiration. Whether you’re completely new to silk painting or simply curious to try something different\, this is a relaxed and rewarding way to spend the day. \nPlease bring an apron or wear old clothes as the inks may stain clothing. \nPlease note lunch is not provided\, but you are welcome to bring your own packed lunch or visit our Visitor Centre Café. \n

In this workshop Sally will teach you how to cut glass using mosaic cutters and using a wide range of colours in both transparent and opaque finishes\, you will create your very own beautiful wreath that is unique to you. Once completed\, your creations will be taken to Sally’s studio where they will be fired twice in her kiln. They will be ready to collect from Stanwick Lakes within 7 days\, ready in time for Christmas. \nThere are currently two dates available: 1.30pm Saturday 8th November 2025 & 1.30pm Saturday 6th December 2025.

DESCRIPTION:Discover the awe and wonder present in the natural world in this2-hour app-based smartphone workshop led by Graham Fudger. \nThe 2-hour workshop covers techniques and approaches to photographing the nature-space and includes an introduction to using the camera app\, Merlin Bird\, iNaturalist’s Seek app\, the compass app and the what.3.words location finder. \nMeeting is at the Visitor Centre at 2:00 pm. Please bring a fully charged-up smartphone and wear clothing / footwear suited to the weather on the day.This workshop is part of the Not Just Us exhibition series exploring themes of light and colour in the nature-space as seen through numerous eyes… \nThis is a FREE event – but places are limited\, pleas REGISTER BELOW. \nChildren are welcome to take part but must be accompanied by an adult and be able to bring\, or share the use of\, a smartphone for the duration of the workshop. \nThe session will begin with a 30–40 minute introduction in the Visitor Centre\, followed by approximately an hour spent outside.

It’s a brilliant introduction to the forge\, and you’ll go home with a piece that’s both practical and seriously impressive at that summer BBQ! \nAll tools\, materials and safety gear are provided – just bring your curiosity and wear hard-soled foowear. It will offer home education families the chance to take part in three timed sessions\, designed around our values of nature\, heritage and adventure. As well as more informal\, drop-in learning activities. The timed sessions on the day will include Pond Dipping\, our new Dig Detectives session and Den Building! We can’t wait to see you there. \n£12.00 per child. Accompanying adults and children under the age of 2 are free of charge. Parking free of charge if registration is provided at time of booking.
