SUMMARY:Pond Dipping with a Ranger!
DESCRIPTION:Join our rangers for a pond dipping session this summer! \nUsing nets\, trays and magnifying glasses and guided by one of our rangers\, come and discover the creatures that live in the ponds at Stanwick Lakes! After a safety briefing and an introduction to the creatures we’re likely to find\, we’ll head to the pond dipping platform where you will be given a pond dipping kit! The Ranger will be on hand with identification keys to help you work out which creatures you have caught as well as to share knowledge about the pond ecosystem and the many species that call it home. \nSessions last approx. 30 minutes and a responsible adult must be present throughout. \nMeet at the Ranger Cabin 5 mins before your chosen ticketed start time. \nPlease bring appropriate footwear and clothing (including sun hats) and sun cream – it can be hot on the dipping platforms! \nBelow you are booking pond dipping for Tuesday 19th August 2025. \nPlease check the date carefully before you book as refunds cannot be given.

You’ll then be set a challenge\, in your groups\, to build your own waterproof den! SUMMARY:Smartphone Discovery Walk
DESCRIPTION:Discover the awe and wonder present in the natural world in this2-hour app-based smartphone workshop led by Graham Fudger. \nThe 2-hour workshop covers techniques and approaches to photographing the nature-space and includes an introduction to using the camera app\, Merlin Bird\, iNaturalist’s Seek app\, the compass app and the what.3.words location finder. \nMeeting is at the Visitor Centre at 2:00 pm. Please bring a fully charged-up smartphone and wear clothing / footwear suited to the weather on the day.This workshop is part of the Not Just Us exhibition series exploring themes of light and colour in the nature-space as seen through numerous eyes… \nThis is a FREE event – but places are limited\, pleas REGISTER BELOW. \nChildren are welcome to take part but must be accompanied by an adult and be able to bring\, or share the use of\, a smartphone for the duration of the workshop. \nThe session will begin with a 30–40 minute introduction in the Visitor Centre\, followed by approximately an hour spent outside.

SUMMARY:Not Just Us - Digital Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Not Just UsA digital exploration by Graham Fudger – FREE event (funded by Arts Council England). \nNot Just Us is a one-day digital exhibition referencing the awe and wonder of colour in the natural world as seen through numerous eyes. Contemporary artist Graham Fudger presents a series of 60-second video works created from scenes and details recorded at a dozen locations over the summer. \nEach video is assembled from multiple stills using the artist’s transitional hue process in Photoshop\, designed to suggest how a range of species – including our own – might visually perceive the nature-space. \nThe ExhibitionVisitors can expect an immersive visual experience featuring a series of short digital films exploring how colour appears across the natural world. The videos are displayed on large screens\, with layered still imagery that shifts through a spectrum of hues—inviting viewers to consider how different species might see the same environment. The space is designed to enhance colour and light\, offering a contemplative and visually rich encounter with the natural world through a digital lens. \nVirtual Reality ExperienceThe exhibition also includes a VR component that offers a glimpse into how insects and other creatures may experience light and colour. Visitors can explore this through a headset provided by the artist\, with additional viewing options available if supported by the venue. \nArtist In AttendanceGraham Fudger will be present throughout the event to meet visitors\, answer questions\, and support the experience. A member of the site team may also be on hand to help guide engagement. \nSupported by Arts Council EnglandNot Just Us\, including its exhibitions\, workshops and talks\, is supported with public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England. \nAbout the ArtistGraham Fudger is a multi-disciplinary contemporary artist using digital media to explore the human experience in a shifting technological world.
