SUMMARY:2-Day Stained Glass Workshop
DESCRIPTION:2-Day Stained Glass Workshop \nCourse Overview: \nThis two-day course gives you an introduction to the traditional method of stained-glass making. This course in traditional method of stained-glass construction will give you an insight into this ancient craft. You will be fully guided through the process and given lots of tips\, tricks\, insight\, and appreciation of stained-glass window-making. \nThe course will start with an introduction to the art of stained glass\, the design\, and how we ‘paint with light’\, including the equipment and tools used to do this. You will quickly move on to the practical aspect by learning how to score and break glass. This will be followed by practice cutting glass to a design until you’re ready to start cutting the coloured glass for your main project. You can either use one of the designs provided or bring along a design of your own. \nThere will be a full demonstration of the process of constructing a panel at each stage\, and we will discuss the tools and techniques being used. Work will be focused on building and finishing your stained-glass panel by leading\, soldering and cementing your design piece which you’ll finish in time to take home. \nNext available dates: 12th &13th April (limited spaces left) or 7th & 8th June\, 5th & 6th July \nTo take part in this course and our other heritage courses\, visit our Traditional Crafts page. \n

DESCRIPTION:A wonderful beginner’s class\, in this workshop you will have the choice of making a flower wave sculpture or a flower candle holder.  You will have access to all materials to decorate your glass including pre fired glass beads and frit. After the workshop\, your pieces will be taken to Sally’s studio where they will be fired twice in her kiln.  They will be ready within 14 days and can be collected from Stanwick Lakes or posted out to you for the cost of the postage. \nFor health and safety reasons please do not wear sandals or open toes shoes. \n  \n

Tracing the story from early farmsteads to the rise of a Roman villa estate\, this walk reveals how the people of the Nene Valley adapted to profound cultural and environmental change — leaving traces that still shape the landscape we see today. \nAttendee Info:\nMeet outside the Visitor Centre for a prompt 10am start.\nThe walk is approximately 1.5 miles long.
