An overview
In 18th and 19th Century Northamptonshire there were those who benefited from trans-Atlantic slavery but also others who actively opposed it. This talk looks at the ways in which national responses to slavery were reflected in our own county.
The speaker:
John Buckell has an MA in Historical Studies from Leicester University and was a teacher in Northampton for many years. He is the author of a study of Weston Favell during the First World War and is a regular contributor to local history journals. His main historical interest is in modern social and political movements and their impact on local communities
This talks starts at 2.00pm and will be approx. 45mins – 1 hour.
If you choose a cream tea or afternoon tea this will be served after the talk. Lunch bookings will be at 12.30pm.
All tickets include parking for the duration of the event and ticket type.
Members, of course, benefit from free parking all day.
