Stacking Rings/Pendant

Overview

On this three-hour course, you’ll be gently guided through the process of creating either three beautifully styled stacking rings or a pendant of your choice from a selection of five designs. It’s a relaxed, hands-on session that introduces you to traditional jewellery-making techniques in a supportive and welcoming environment.

Across the workshop, you’ll explore a range of foundational skills, including shaping and forming rings, soldering metal components, adding decorative twists and textures, and refining your piece through careful filing, sanding and polishing. Each stage is clearly demonstrated, with plenty of time to practice and develop confidence as you go.

This workshop is perfect for complete beginners, offering a calm and creative introduction to jewellery making. All materials and tools are provided, so you can simply turn up, get creative, and leave with a finished piece that’s uniquely your own.

What You’ll Learn

Materials & Selection: How to choose and prepare your metal and components for making rings or a pendant.

Forming: How to shape and create rings or pendant elements using traditional jewellery-making techniques.

Construction: How to join and assemble your piece using soldering methods.

Detailing: How to add texture and decorative finishes through twisting and surface work.

Finishing: How to refine your piece through filing, sanding and polishing to achieve a professional finish.

Who are ring workshops for?

This workshop is ideal for anyone with an interest in making, creativity, or trying something new in a relaxed and supportive setting. No previous experience is needed, and the session is designed to be fully accessible to beginners.

About the Tutor

Beccy Gillatt

Beccy Gillatt is a jewellery designer and maker whose passion for making began in childhood, inspired by sugar craft and a hands-on upbringing alongside her father, an engineer. Early exposure to making and repair sparked a lifelong interest in metalwork and traditional craft.

She studied Art and Design at Bath College before completing a BA in Designed Metalwork and Jewellery at Buckinghamshire Chilterns University College, later training with the Bishopsland Educational Trust and completing an MA at the Royal College of Art.

Beccy now works as a practising maker and teacher, exhibiting widely and running workshops from her studio, where she shares her love of jewellery making in a calm, supportive environment.

Cancellation policy
Cancellations made within 30 days of the session are non-refundable. In exceptional circumstances, please speak to our team so we can discuss how we may be able to accommodate you.

All cancellation requests must be made by email to: info@rftrusst.org.uk and should include your full name, booking reference (if available), session date or title, and reason for cancellation.

Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations, bookings made online may be eligible for a 14-day cooling-off period. However, if the session is scheduled to take place within this period, this right no longer applies.
