Willow Weaving

Overview

We’re delighted to welcome willow artist Chaz Friend in 2026 for a series of hands-on willow weaving workshops celebrating this timeless heritage craft.

Chaz brings a warm, patient, and endlessly enthusiastic approach to working with willow after decades of teaching. Whether you’re completely new to the craft or looking to refresh your skills, these sessions offer a relaxed introduction to traditional weaving techniques, with projects you can enjoy at home or in your garden.

Each workshop guides you through shaping, tension, and weaving, helping you create beautiful, practical, and decorative pieces while gaining confidence in this heritage craft.

Obelisk & Bird Feeder

Sculptural Hare

Dragonfly Sculpture

Wall Flower

Berry Basket

A really good and informative course with lots of help in a lovely barn. Me and my sister have never done willow basket making and found we had plenty of help and encouragement…I really recommend a great day out with a lovely lunch in the café. Plenty of tea and coffee on hand as well.

What You’ll Learn

Materials & Selection: How to choose and combine flowers, foliage and grasses for colour, texture and balance.

Who are flower workshops for?

These workshops are ideal for anyone who loves flowers, nature and creativity – no experience necessary. Each session is beginner-friendly and designed to be a genuinely enjoyable, feel-good experience from start to finish.
