Roundhouse Update – Mud, mud and more mud!

by | Jun 2, 2023

On Tuesday 30th May, the Heritage Team at Stanwick Lakes hosted a “Roundhouse Daub Day” – a chance for communities and the public to come and help our wonderful volunteers with daubing our new roundhouse. We were amazed at how many people joined us and got stuck in. Daubing can be a long and arduous task, but having many hands certainly made light work – look at the amazing results!

We still have a way to go – and some daub to place – but soon both of our roundhouses will be fully covered, adding that extra layer of weather proofing. The project will continue throughout 2023 and beyond – a new roof, perimeter bund and fence and a pre-historic garden – not to mention the work needed on the original roundhouse.

We are so grateful to the amazing team of volunteers who have been so enthusiastic about building the roundhouse and creating a wonderful heritage space to explore – we couldn’t do it without them!

Keep an eye out on social media and the website for updates and other opportunities to get hands on with heritage.
