We will be having a major upgrade to our car parking facilities in May, with a new barrier system that uses automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) technology. This means that paper tickets and membership cards will be a thing of the past. We do, however, need members to provide their vehicle registration numbers so that the system recognises their number plate and allows them to enter and exit the site seamlessly each time they visit. Non-members will need to enter their registration number and pay at the pay station before departing the site. We are expecting the new barrier system to be up and running by 24th May 2021.

This upgrade to our parking facilities represents a significant capital investment by Rockingham Forest Trust, but since reopening last summer, we have recognised the increase in the number of visitors wishing to pay for their parking by card. The new pay terminals will both accept card payments but cash payments will also still be possible. We very much hope the upgrade will enhance our visitors’ experience at Stanwick Lakes in the future.

A Word About Our Charges

What you pay when you drive in is not really just a ‘car park charge’, it’s represents great value. Just a few pounds for as many people as you can fit in your car gives you access to a wide range of facilities, from seven and a half miles of surfaced paths, to three different adventure play areas, a fitness hub, bird hides and sculpture and heritage trails.

Managed by Environmental Charity

Did you know that Stanwick Lakes is managed by Rockingham Forest Trust, a local environmental charity?

Every time you pay to visit Stanwick Lakes you are supporting the conservation and maintenance work that takes place on the site. This includes managing the nature reserve for wildlife, looking after the play equipment and maintaining miles of paths for walking and cycling.

So, whether you pay every time you visit or have an annual membership, we are very grateful for your support.

How do I become a Member?

An annual fee of £42 gives members unlimited car parking at Stanwick Lakes (during opening hours). Please fill out our Membership Form here.

You can also buy or renew memberships at the Visitor Centre welcome desk.
