Creating a Space for Craft, Community and additional income.

Stanwick Lakes has been awarded nearly £25,000 to build a new Woodland Workshop! To receive the grant, we must raise a matching amount by the end of October.

The proposed barn will support our conservation, heritage, and educational programmes, and serve as a hub for forestry operations. It will include a wood-burning kiln for sustainably producing charcoal, which will be sold at the Visitor Centre to generate additional income for the charity. The barn will also offer traditional craft courses like hedge laying, whittling, and hurdle making, and when not in use for forestry, it will be available for school groups and other educational activities.

We are reaching out for your support to help us meet our fundraising target of £24,697. Any contribution would be greatly appreciated and make a difference to this project!

Reclaim Gift Aid

Gift Aid It!Add 25% more to your donation at no cost to you. A Gift Aid declaration allows Stanwick Lakes to claim tax back on eligible donations. It means that for every £1 you donate to Stanwick Lakes we can claim back 25p, at no extra cost to you.

By ticking the "Yes" box, I agree I would like Stanwick Lakes to reclaim the tax on all qualifying donations I have made, as well as any future donations, until I notify them otherwise. I understand that if I pay less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all my donations in that tax year I may be asked to pay any difference. I understand that Stanwick Lakes will reclaim 25p of tax on every £1 that I give.

What is Gift Aid?

Gift Aid does not cost you a penny more, but can add an additional 25p to every £1 you donate. When Stanwick Lakes receives a donation from a UK taxpayer, we're entitled to claim an amount of tax (calculated at the basic rate of income tax in that year) paid on that donation. Once you have given your permission for us to do this on your behalf, there is no need for you to do anything else.

All that is required is that you must be a taxpayer and that would have paid or will pay sufficient Income and/or Capital Gains Tax to cover all the Gift Aid claimed on all your donations in that tax year. Please note that it is your responsibility to pay any difference.

The amount of tax we claim will be 25% of the total value of your donations in that tax year. Furthermore, if you are a higher taxpayer, you are also entitled to claim the difference between the basic rate which we will claim and the amount of tax you have actually paid. For further details on how you can do this, please contact your tax office. If your tax situation changes and your gifts will no longer be eligible for the Gift Aid scheme please contact us and we will amend your record accordingly.

Honouring History: Memorialising the B17 Aircraft Collision

Join us in commemorating the 80th anniversary of the B17 aircraft collision at Stanwick Lakes. This tragic event during World War II deserves a fitting memorial to honor the lives lost and the bravery shown.

In February, the visitor center organized a poignant private ceremony attended by personnel from the 501st Combat Support Wing and local dignitaries from surrounding towns and villages. Attendees gathered for a short private service, the reading of a poem originally written by a local young girl, present as the time of the incident. The Honor Guard were given the order to post colours, followed by Taps to accompany the laying of a memorial wreath and a salute. This was followed by a captivating 10-day exhibition for the public.

To view this virtually, visit our B-17 Exhibition: Virtual Gallery.

Now, we’re looking to fund a permanent memorial.

How you can help…

Your support will help us create a lasting tribute, ensuring that the sacrifices made during wartime are never forgotten.

We would like to install a memorial and a plaque at the site of the incident, to ensure the memory of those lost is preserved for future generations. Every donation counts toward preserving this important piece of history. Help us honor the legacy of the B17 aircraft collision.

Please note: Note: The fundraising total on this page currently reflects the generous donations contributed via this online platform. We have also received several offline donations, and these will be added to the total here shortly, once processed, so that you can track the progress of the campaign. We have nearly met our goal! Thank you, everyone, for the support toward this cause so far.

Level the playing ground for more families!

This campaign aims to raise funds for the creation of inclusive new play equipment, designed to be accessible for children with disabilities. The new equipment, to be installed next to the existing sand and water play areas, will feature an accessible roundabout and swings that older children can also enjoy. Additionally, we plan to construct more accessible pathways, ensuring that parents and carers who use wheelchairs can easily access the play areas with their children.
