Wildlife Survey Skills: Harvest Mouse Monitoring (age 18-30)

31st October 2026 @ 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM
£6.00

This event is designed for young people aged 18-30 in partnership with the Nene Valley Mammal Youth Group.

Join the team at Stanwick Lakes to take part in monitoring the harvest mouse population on the nature reserve as part of the national Harvest Mouse survey. Learn how to identify suitable habitat, search for harvest mouse nests, and collect valuable data that contributes to a national citizen science project. This is a great opportunity to develop practical wildlife survey skills, connect with like-minded people, and take positive action for conservation. Every survey helps improve our understanding of harvest mouse populations and helps us to protect the harvest mouse population at Stanwick Lakes. No previous ecological experience is required.

Normal parking charges apply.

The NVMYG has been formed to inspire young people (under age 30) to learn about mammals and take action to protect them. Young people will be able spend time outdoors, meet like-minded people, and develop their skills to become citizen scientists and active conservationists. The group has been set up in response to, and with, local young people who have a passion for nature and is part of the local network of the Mammal Society, Britain’s leading charity devoted to the science-led conservation of mammals.
