Festive ‘Lates’ Evening Workshops
Step into the festive spirit this winter as the Visitor Centre opens late for a cosy evenings of creativity, mulled wine, mince pies and twinkling lights. Our Festive Lates offer the chance to try your hand at something new, with workshops ranging from natural Christmas Wreaths making and Silk Batik Painted Baubles and even a Blacksmithing taster session in our Traditional Barn. Each workshop is beginner-friendly, set in small groups, and designed to help you unwind, get creative, and make something special this festive season.

Silk Batik Painting Baubles
Using small bauble embroidery hoops you’ll be guided through the beautiful and organic process of batik, a centuries-old technique that uses melted wax and vibrant inks on silk to create rich, flowing designs than you can hang in your home or give as a gift this festive season.
Blacksmithing Taster
In this taster session you will learn the basics of blacksmithing, a trade that has been at the heart of countryside life for hundreds of years. The skills you will learn include taking a heat, drawing out, scrolling, and twisting to produce a unique piece to take home.
Christmas Wreath Making
Craft your very own unique Christmas wreath using beautiful, natural materials. You’ll learn how to plan you design, assemble it on a wire frame, with tips and ideas along the way to help you make a wreath that’s truly one-of-a-kind to hang on your front door.
Festive Lates promises an evening of creativity, fun, and Christmas cheer – the perfect way to celebrate the season with us here at Stanwick Lakes.
Recommended for ages 16 and over.
Parking is included in the cost of the ticket.
Wearing old clothes is recommended. Blacksmithing: Hard soled boots, are recommended due to the possibility of hot coals falling out of the fire.
Cancellation Policy: We’re unable to offer refunds for cancellations as standard. If you need to cancel, please contact the workshop team at workshops@rftrust.org.uk. If we are able to fill your place, we may be able to issue a refund at our discretion.
