Heritage Open Day

20th September 2025 @ 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Free

For a week every September, Heritage Open Days brings people together, including thousands of volunteers and organisations, to celebrate heritage with England’s largest community-led festival of history and culture.

We’re celebrating at Stanwick Lakes on Saturday, 20th September 2025! Join us from 10am to 4pm for our Heritage Open Day, where you can explore 10,000 years of history and discover this year’s theme: architecture – natural and historic. From the structures built by our ancestors to the wonders crafted by nature, there’s plenty to inspire and explore.

What’s Happening:

Bifrost Guard Viking Camp – step into the world of Viking warriors.
Longthorpe Legion Roman Living History Group – meet Roman soldiers and learn about life in ancient times.
Blacksmithing Demonstrations – see traditional skills brought to life.
Weavers Guild – celebrating National Spinning in Public Day.
• Plus more heritage and craft demonstrations to be confirmed!

🎟️ No need to book – just come along and enjoy a day of discovery and fun!

Our Heritage Open Day at Stanwick Lakes is free, made possible by The National Lottery Heritage Fund – thanks to National Lottery players!

🕙 Date & Time: Saturday, 20th September 2025, 10am – 4pm

Bring your family and friends, and don’t miss out on this celebration of heritage and architecture.

Usual car parking charges apply, which help fund ongoing heritage and conservation work. Stanwick Lakes nature reserve and countryside attraction is managed as a social enterprise by Rockingham Forest Trust. Income from our visitors directly supports the cost of running the site, which is self-financing.
