Winter Hours: From 26/10/24 the carpark is locked at 5.30pm. The Visitor Centre closes at 5pm.  Café is open until 3pm, or 4pm during weekends and the school holidays. Please note, the waterplay feature is closed Monday mornings for routine cleaning and maintenance.

Please note on Friday 21st March the Visitor Centre will be closed all day for a private event. However, The Walker’s Rest kiosk will be open for hot & cold drinks and snacks and the outside toilets will also be open.

Feathered Friends is back!
A NEW programme of bird-themed events for an exciting February half-term adventure!

Explore the feathery side of Stanwick Lakes these school holidays, with a lineup of bird-themed activities. Choose from a mix of drop-in and BOOKABLE OPTIONS designed to celebrate the diverse birdlife at our nature reserve, as well as National Bird Box Week.

From our popular trail, to bird box building, exploring with bub club or experiencing some outdoor feathery fun, crafts and pottery painting, our activities offer a blend of adventure and education!

February Half Term Trail
Brilliant Beaks!

Trail packs cost £3.50 and include a reward at the end.
Suitable for all ages, allow around 45 minutes – 1 hour, for an avian adventure around Solstice Lake, with a clue to solve at each stop.

No booking necessary – just purchase your trail leaflet from the Visitor Centre. (during opening hours).

We recommend completing the trail between 9.30am – 3pm (allowing a lap of the lake in shorter daylight hours).

We have three bird-themed, self-led activities for to to choose from this February half-term. Available everyday of the school holidays, just ask a member of the team to get your set up once you arrive!

Throughout the February half term the Visitor Centre is hosting a variety of family activities.

Bottle Bird Feeders
Tuesday 18th February, 10.30-11.30

Decorate a bottle and turn it into a bird feeder – bird seed included.

£4 per bottle.

Bottle Bird Workshop
Wednesday 19th February, 10-11.30am

Will you make a wigeon, a blue tit, or a tropical bird of paradise? The choice is yours!

Count Sparrows with the Bub Club
Thursday 20th February, 10-11am

Bird themed music, story and crafts, with short walk to count sparrows. Designed for preschoolers, but siblings are welcome.

£5 per child.

Build a bird box with the Rangers
Thursday 20th Februrary, 10am-12oon

With guidance from the ranger team, build a wooden nest box for your garden birds, a great family activity.

£12 per nest box.

Feathery Forest Fun
Thursday 20th Februrary, 1pm-2.30pm

Enjoy outdoor birdy games and crafts. Weave a nest, make a bird to take home and tuck into some campfire treats.

£5 per child.
