Welcome to an exciting February half-term adventure at Stanwick Lakes!

Explore the feathery side of Stanwick Lakes these school holidays, with a lineup of bird-themed activities. Choose from a mix of drop-in and BOOKABLE OPTIONS designed to celebrate the diverse birdlife at our nature reserve, as well as National Bird Box Week.

From our popular trail, to bird box building, exploring with bub club or experiencing some outdoor feathery fun, crafts and pottery painting, our activities offer a blend of adventure and education!

February Half Term Trail

 

Bird Songs & Sounds Trail!

Trail packs cost £3 and include a reward at the end.
Suitable for all ages, allow around 45 minutes – 1 hour, for an avian adventure around Solstice Lake, including bird songs and sounds to listen to at each stop.

No booking necessary – just purchase your trail leaflet from the Visitor Centre. (during opening hours).

We recommend completing the trail between 9.30am – 4pm.
From Saturday 17th February.

Drop-in activities in the Visitor Centre all half term week:

We have three bird-themed, self-led activities for to to choose from this February half-term. Available everyday of the school holidays, just ask a member of the team to get your set up once you arrive!

Make an oirgami bird from a choice of colours and designs to display in
the Visitor Centre!

Pottery Painting

We’ve added a couple of birds to our pottery pieces especially for our bird-themed half term!

Book your place on one of our half term activities…

Throughout the February half term the Visitor Centre is hosting a variety of family activities.

Bottle Bird Feeders
Monday 19th February, 10.30-11.30

Decorate a bottle and turn it into a bird feeder – bird seed included.

£4 per bottle.

Build a bird box with the Rangers
Tuesday 20th Februrary, 10am-12oon

With guidance from the ranger team, build a wooden nest box for your garden birds, a great family activity.

£12 per nest box.

Feathery Fun
Tuesday 20th Februrary, 1pm-2.30pm

Enjoy outdoor birdy games and crafts. Weave a nest, make a bird to take home and tuck into some campfire treats.

£5 per child.

Bottle Bird Workshop
Wednesday 21st February, 10-11.30am

Will you make a wigeon, a blue tit, or a tropical bird of paradise? The choice is yours!

Count Sparrows with the Bub Club
Thursday 22nd February, 10-11am

Bird themed music, story and crafts, with short walk to count sparrows. Designed for preschoolers, but siblings are welcome.

£2.50 per child.
