Help Us Secure A £25,000 Grant – The Woodland Workshop

by | Oct 7, 2024

We are thrilled to announce that Stanwick Lakes has been offered a grant of nearly £25,000 to build a new Woodland Workshop. This is a brilliant opportunity for the charity, as the new facility would play a crucial role in supporting our conservation, heritage, and educational programmes going forward, making a significant impact on the site and our community.

But, we need to match-fund the grant.

What Will the Woodland Workshop Bring?

The planned single-storey oak timbered barn will serve as a hub for forestry operations throughout Stanwick Lakes. One of the features of the workshop will be a wood-burning kiln, enabling us to produce sustainably made charcoal. This eco-friendly product would be available for purchase at our Visitor Centre, creating an additional income stream to support our ongoing efforts.

In addition to serving forestry needs, the Woodland Workshop would offer visitors the chance to engage in a variety of forestry and woodworking craft courses. Participants can look forward to learning skills such as hedge laying, whittling, and hurdle making. When not in use for these activities, the building will also be available for educational visits from local school groups, enriching their understanding of nature and conservation.

How Can You Help?

To secure this grant, we must match fund the total amount by the end of October 2024. This is where we kindly ask for your support. If you are a supporter of Stanwick Lakes, we invite you to consider making a donation to our Woodland Workshop fund. Our target is £24,697, and every contribution, big or small, will help us reach this goal.

To donate, please visit www.stanwicklakes.org.uk/donate. You can also make donations in person at the Visitor Centre.

Thank You!
